Amana Participates in 4th Dubai Investments Park Inter-Company Olympiad - February & March 2010
A total of 21 teams participated in soccer, 9 organizations tried to swim to the finish line in swimming while chess saw 20 players using their brain cells overtime. All the events were held at the Dubai National School.
BASKETBALL
The Basketball event was an event with Filipino domination. We have seen a few Arab and Indian Teams as well but this time even the referees were three Filipinos who controlled the games efficiently. The games were played in a knockout phase with plate level.
Hira Industries had a talented team who lost the first match and won the next two but lost the third place to Amana buildings.
Amana Buildings had one of the fastest attacks in all the teams, especially 190cm Anas who had a knack of blocking baskets and then moving fast towards the opposition’s baskets. One of his dunks will be remembered for a long time where the ball was in stop motion with him in the air before it went in the basket. They lost their first match but made a come back in the plate level to take the third position.

CHESS
The format was a bit different from conventional chess tournaments with each player getting 5 minutes on the analogue clock. So it had to be a combination of timed play with fast thinking ability. If the game gets over by clocking 5 minutes and even though his army is better he loses the game. It made players commit unforced errors in order to meet the time, but finally they had no one else to blame but themselves.
Walter from Gartner proved that he is a multi skilled player and made an impression in chess as he had done in billiards before.

SWIMMING
The three swimmers from Amana Buildings were cheering each other on helping improve each others performance to get to the top position. It seemed to be working well and one of their swimmers managed to take the top spot.
